Ruff Mudder joins new 5K event, Classic and Mini Mudder for a day of fun for the whole family

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Aug. 9, 2019 – Tough Mudder, the global fitness and active lifestyle brand, is returning to Chicago with its 2019 Tough Mudder Chicago on August 24-25. For the first time, the event will feature Ruff Mudder, an obstacle course for dogs, and Tough Mudder 5K which was unveiled in early 2019.

“Chicago is home to some of the most competitive athletes in the U.S., so we’re thrilled to offer more action than ever at this year’s Tough Mudder Chicago,” said Rabia Qari, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Tough Mudder, Inc. “Along with the new 5K distance which is ideal for first timers, we’re also now offering Ruff Mudder, which has been a huge hit in 2019. Chicago canines and participants are in for a wild weekend.” 

Tough Mudder Chicago is returning to Rockford International Airport for the fourth consecutive season, offering sprawling views of the surrounding area. Roughly an hour and a half outside of both Chicago and Milwaukee, the venue will offer some of the wildest new challenges in the obstacle course racing industry. For the first time at Tough Mudder Chicago, a new 5K event will cram 13 unique obstacles into a shorter distance than the original Tough Mudder Classic. The untimed, teamwork-focused event is ideal for first-timers who want to do something new with their weekend.

Tough Mudder 5K joins Tough Mudder Classic, an 8-10-mile loop of mud-soaked mayhem with 25 best-in-class obstacles, Mini Mudder, a mile-long obstacle course specifically designed for adventure-seeking children, and the new Ruff Mudder, an event for the toughest of pups. Coupled with a revamped Mudder Village Festival featuring local food, cold beer, live entertainment, lawn games, giveaways and more, the events provide a day of fun for the whole family.
