BOULDER, Colo. (Dec. 21, 2017) – The Nature Conservancy in Colorado today announced a new partnership with Backbone Media. A leader in conservation, the Conservancy is a science-based organization working to preserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Backbone will augment ongoing Conservancy efforts to educate the recreational community about their programs that focus on land, forests, water, resilient cities, and climate.
"Preserving Colorado's natural resources has never been more important than it is today," said Carlos Fernández, The Nature Conservancy’s Colorado state director. "We're always looking for new, creative ways to accomplish our mission. Backbone's experience in the outdoor space, and its relationships with local and national media, will be invaluable in our efforts."
The Conservancy recently celebrated 50 years of work throughout Colorado to conserve lands, protect water, and restore forests. To date, the Conservancy has protected one million acres and one thousand river miles across the state. Their education and outreach efforts have also helped connect more people to the value of nature and its impact on an improved quality of life.
The Conservancy’s work helps protect and restore places people live, work and play around the state. For example, the Colorado River is a key focus for the Conservancy and it supports a $26 billion recreational economy, almost $10 billion of which is generated in-state.
"The Conservancy is the gold standard when it comes to conservation," said Penn Newhard, partner at Backbone Media. "We're thrilled to be working with such an outstanding organization on issues near and dear to our hearts."
The Conservancy will be at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market from Jan. 25-28, 2018, in Denver, Colorado.
