HOKA ONE ONE Runs Away with Shoe Count at IRONMAN® Kona Championships

Brand tops list of running shoes and athlete Heather Jackson is first American finisher at the iconic international triathlon

GOLETA, CALIF. (October 19, 2017) —HOKA ONE ONE®, a division of Deckers Brands (NYSE: DECK) topped the shoe count at the 2017 IRONMAN® World Championship with over 18.1 percent of all finishers crossing the line in HOKA ONE ONE running shoes. HOKA made a huge jump from last year’s results to finish more than five percent ahead of the second-place brand.   

“The numbers are speaking for themselves and we’re ecstatic to see HOKA ONE ONE rise to the top spot at the IRONMAN ® World Championships so soon after being introduced to the triathlon world,” said Wendy Yang, President of HOKA ONE ONE. “HOKA offers triathletes the perfect combination of support and cushion in an innovative lightweight package, and we are confident our product will continue to gain momentum.” 

The brand’s athletes also raced en masse. HOKA ONE ONE athlete Heather Jackson finished fourth in the elite women’s race, crossing the line less than a minute behind third place in 9 hours, 2 minutes, 29 seconds. In 2016, Jackson finished in third place at the Ironman World Championship, becoming the first American female to podium in ten years. She was this year’s first American female finisher.

Rounding out race week, HOKA donated all sales from special edition Kona hats and tees sold at the race expo to the Kona-based Waverider Triathlon Club. Deckers matched the $3,550 donation.
